Program Objective
A paramedic is a first responder and member of an emergency services team who helps administer timely care for patients during an emergency.
The daily responsibilities of a paramedic include rescuing victims from entrapment or hazardous environments, providing basic to advanced life support care before patients are in a hospital and caring for sick or injured patients in the field.
Students in the Paramedic program will learn how to respond to 911 calls for emergency medical assistance, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and traumatic injury, assess patient conditions, provide first-aid or life support and transport patients in an ambulance. Hands-on activities, taught by expert instructors, will give students the confidence for their first day on the job.
Other skills addressed in this program include reporting observations and treatment to medical teams after arrival at a hospital, documenting the medical care given to patients and maintaining/stocking emergency equipment.

State Licensure Determination Disclosure
The Paramedic program is offered via on-ground and hybrid delivery methods. The program is available to residents of Nevada and meets applicable licensure requirements in those states. While there may be online components, completion of this program requires on-ground attendance at the campus at which the student is enrolled and cannot be completed solely via distance education. Prospective students and enrolled students should understand that moving out of the state in which they enrolled may adversely impact a student’s ability to complete the program. If a student is planning to relocate outside of their state of enrollment he or she is required to discuss this with the Student Services Coordinator and/or Program Director.
Graduates of the Paramedic program are eligible to apply to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification examination at the paramedic level. After licensure is obtained in the state (NV) transfer of state licensure may be available via state reciprocity compacts. Prospective students and current students are strongly encouraged to contact the state professional licensing board or similar regulatory body in the state(s) where they plan to work to determine requirements before enrolling in a program.
